Carnitine contains acetyl-carnitine which supplies carnitine, an amino acid derivative present in the human body mainly in the skeletal muscle, kidneys, lungs and heart.

The organism is able to produce it from lysine and methionine. However, it is useful to make it more available in circumstances with an increased need of carnitine, especially during sports activities.
