NADH (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide - Coenzyme 1) is a molecule naturally produced in the human body.
It is the main carrier of electrons and protons that feed energy synthesis (ATP) and are therefore involved in numerous metabolic pathways essential for life.
NADH is the activated form of Niacin, an essential Vitamin B not synthesised by the organism, which thus requires a daily intake through the diet.
The ratio between NAD (+) /NADH is the basis of the redox balance and energy production.
A disturbance of this balance and therefore a lack of NADH has been reported in various diseases such as: ageing, cognitive dysfunction, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, chronic infections, heart disease, malignant tumour cells, diabetes mellitus, neuropathic and vascular abnormalities in heart disease and obesity.
NADH therefore represents a molecule of extraordinary interest for its health potential.
Given the importance of NADH in energy metabolism, it has been theorised that supplementation of NADH can lead to improving the performance in tissues which require a lot of energy, such as the heart and skeletal muscles, but also the nervous system and arteries.
In fact, it has been confirmed that higher NADH levels are associated with improved skeletal muscle contractility.
Physical training, a very intense life condition, bring about an increase in the body’s ability to produce and transport NADH, which suggests that the cells of athletes and people under stress have an increased concentration of this molecule to better adapt to fatigue.
Furthermore, with advancing age, its cellular availability decreases.
Consequently, its external integration as a nutraceutical can facilitate energy metabolism and improve the ability to withstand fatigue.
From a chemical point of view, NADH has a high degree of instability, that is, it is oxidised before being absorbed in the intestine and becoming ineffective.
The chemical stability of NADH is the prerequisite for its efficiency.
PANMOL®-NADH is a patent of a special process, capable of stabilising NADH, without the use of chemicals.
The formation of the NADH/chlorophyll complex and its combination with other natural substances (in particular vegetable fats and beeswax to form microcapsules) makes PANMOL®-NADH resistant to contact with oxygen, light and non-degradable to contact with gastric juices.
