Melatonic is a melatonin-based dietary supplement combined with adenosine and glycine, capable of solubilising melatonin and improving its bioavailability.
Melatonin is a naturally occurring ubiquitous substance, as it is present in the animal and plant kingdoms and in every living organism.
In case of men, it is physiologically produced, especially in the pineal glands (epiphysis), in amounts that decrease with age.
Very recent studies are setting out its importance in mitochondria’s biogenesis, and emphasise its significant role in the mechanisms that determine longevity.
Its deficiency is considered an important sign of ageing.
Melatonin seems to be involved in the regulation of the sleep-wake cycle and in the secretion of extremely important hormones.
It was originally used to regularise sleep in the case of blind people.
Indeed, since they have no perception of the alternation of day and night (circadian cycles), they can suffer from the disruption of the biological clock, which causes general discomfort, fatigue, decreased appetite and sleeping disorders.
Its mechanism of action is not entirely clear yet; it neither seems to be of chemical, nor biochemical, receptorial, hormonal or pharmacological nature, but it can simply be related to its ability of causing a peak of production every night and more or less at the same time.
This action begins when darkness comes and ends with the first lights of a new day.
Such peak seems to be associated with a series of positive knock-on effects that allow the organism to remain synchronised with the hormonal and cellular physiological cycles.
Melatonin is particularly useful for inducing the REM sleep phase, for improving memory deficits and depressive syndromes, and for tackling moments of particular stress.
Moreover, it is useful to facilitate the organism’s adaptation to time zone variations (jet lag).
Melatonic is especially indicated to facilitate the regularity of body biorhythms, such as the sleep-wake cycle, and to improve the quality of sleep. It is also recommended to facilitate the organism’s adaptation to time zone variations (jet lag).
Take 1 tablet per day, just before bedtime. To prevent jet lag, take 1 tablet right before bedtime on the first day of travel and for a few days after arriving at your destination.
