The football club Udinese Calcio, better known as Udinese, is one of the oldest clubs in Italy. Although the football section officially dates back to 1911, the club was founded in 1986 with the name of the Udinese Gymnastics and Fencing Society and can boast the fifteenth best sporting tradition in Italy according to the parameters of the FIGC.
The social colors, white and black, were taken from the municipal coat of arms of the city and, due to this chromatic combination, the players earned the nickname of bianconeri and zebrette.
Internally, the best sporting results ever are the 1922 Italian Cup final (lost 0-1 against Vado) and second place in Serie A, in the 1954-55 season.
As for the European Cups, Udinese Calcio includes various participations in the Champions League and the UEFA / Europa League Cup; the greatest results achieved in the confederal field are the victory of the 2000 Intertoto Cup and the achievement of the quarter-finals in the 2008-2009 edition of the UEFA Cup.
